Pre-Race Routine and Warm-Up: Left home at 4:45 AM, drove 3 hours, arrived an hour early. Started raining as soon as we arrived. Transition area was very soggy grass. I rode the first half mile of the run which took us to the start of the trail section of the run course. Jogged for about 800 yards.

Performance Comments: It is hard to think about grabbing your goggles in transition because we never to this in other races. Good mental challenge.

Performance Comments: Out and back course. Pouring rain. Straight down wind (30 mph) out, straight on head wind back and into driving rain. Needed Rain-X on the sun glasses. Good thing we ride wind everyday in Ludington. My Hed 3\\\'s were quite dangerous in the short cross wind sections. Should have brought spooked rims. This was a very fun mental challenge. I actually had fun in these toughest conditions I've ever been in.

What Would You Do Different? Not sure . .. need advice from Coach Ali. Both calves cramped about mile 8. Identical place on each calf about the size of a quarter. I had to hold back and sometime spin with one leg pushing to keep from locking up. I was quite worried about locking up, but never did. Stiff ankles helped, too. Dehydrated? Cold? Too strong of coffee earlier causing dehydration? I really did not ever feel cold, but probably was. I sucked down the whole bottle of gatorade at mile 9 and a gel. Relief was minimal. The spots that cramped were quite sore the next day, jogging helped. I don\\\'t think it was a cold issue because no one else talked about cramping afterward.

Performance Comments: Run was first. Half mile of road to a one mile grass trail to a one mile road. Then around again for 4.4 miles. Pouring rain. This seems to be my new pace - I was definitely not cruising this time, was trying to push. Good Job Coach.

Post Race Activities and Cool Down: Long shower to warm back up.

Event Comments: Very fun. Was going to do the bike time trial in the afternoon (multi event weekend). Everything was soaked. Wind was supposed to pick up to 35 mph in the afternoon. Big hills meant 40 mph+ downhills. Decided to go home. Rain and wind on my rims is asking for a crash. I saw the results -- 14 brave souls stayed and did the time trial! Braver than I am. 3disciplne sports really did a great job, too.

Would You Do This Race Again? Yes. Especially want to try a time trial.
