MI
clear, 60 degrees, wind 20 mph gusting to 25!
Overall Rank = 5/39
Age Group = M50-54
Age Group Rank =1/3

Pre-Race Routine and Warm-Up:
Early morning rise. Got my nutrition in and all my Transition things in order. Then took a little nap! Got up and did some light stretching, then off to the race.

Swim

30:23| 1500 M | 2:01 min/M

Performance Comments:
Not the best of swim. But considering that the wind was blowing up 1'-2' wave, I got it done.

What Would You Do Different?
Maybe get out and do a little training in something other than calm waters!

T1

3:06

Performance Comments:
Took to much time getting heart monitor on.

What Would You Do Different?
Will put on gps heart monitor under tri top before the swim.

Bike

01:06:16 | 40K | 22.5 mph

Performance Comments:
Good fast ride even with the winds! Precious (my bike) was a little twitchy in the wind with a full disk on the rear and a 1080 Zipp on the front. But going with the wind I didn't even dare to look down at the bike computer to see my speed! We were flying low!

What Would You Do Different?
Should have rode my 606 Zipps in the higher winds. Had trimmed the bike out early in the morning before the winds had picked up.

T2

no T-2 time posted

Performance Comments:
Took to long again messing with change of heart rate monitors.

What Would You Do Different?
Going to do the whole race the next time with only the gps heart rate monitor

Run

48:33 | 6.4 miles | 7:35 min/mi

Performance Comments:
Could have pushed a little harder but it was only suppose to be a "B" race.

What Would You Do Different?
Should have done a gel 5 minutes before getting off of the bike but forgot to. I don't feel like it hurt my performance but I know it could or did.

Post Race Activities and Cool Down:
Walked a lot and did some stretching, followed my a visit to the nutrition table.

Event Comments:
A good first time event for the organizer. The swim was a little weedy but the water temp was 80! Bike course was a out and back with a few hills about 4 miles from the turn around. The roads were all newly paved less than a year ago making a smooth ride. The run was around Lake Cadillac on a paved path, very nice and good scenery.

Would You Do This Race Again?
Am looking forward to doing it again next year
